We are a modern dating website with a difference. Modern, yet embracing traditional sets of values and behaviours in our approach to matchmaking between qualified, loyal, honest, and trustworthy males and females (‘Good humans’ as we like to call them).

We are Odogwuabroad.com, the website for mature adults. Intentional and purposeful adults who can differentiate between RIGHT and WRONG. A dating website that accommodates parents looking for genuine love for their children and married couples seeking to find a heartthrob for their online dating shy siblings or bosom friends. We are here to make a statement.

We acknowledge the changing cultural shift in societies (especially in the West) regarding dating and marriage. These shifts no doubt have brought about massive disruptions in the dating and marriage cultural spheres of our society. 

We also note that cultural evolutions bring about philosophical changes in societies, hence, the prevailing philosophical belief in the modern-day relationship(marriage) space is one with a high degree of predictable outcome which equals DIVORCE.

Current statistics from different countries around the world suggest that the rate of divorce is on the high. There seems to be a crisis of relationship (dating/marriage) going on and for some reason, people are choosing to stay single instead of getting married. Some would say, oh! The odds are stacked against me, so, why bother when 50% of marriages end in divorce?

How did we get here?

Some would argue that the introduction of women into the workforce is the catalyst for the crisis. With the advent of World War 1&2, there was a great demand for women to be drafted into the labour force to make up for the loss occasioned by the decimation of the male population involved in the wars. So, to meet the demands of the industrial war complex, women were drafted en-masse into the production process.

Also, strides made in industrial and technological innovations which led to the mass production of household appliances that made household chores a lot easier than usual created spare time for women which was filled with more productive ventures. In a bid to acquire more appliances and live a better life, most women opted to join the labour force.

These subtle lifestyle changes made women adopt varying degrees of interaction between their bosses and colleagues on one hand and their husbands on the other.

With successes in the labour force and increased agitations for women’s rights and equality, new patterns of behavior began to emerge. Traditional models of male/female relationships moved to a double-masculinity type of environment with abrasive-confrontational conduct, argumentative, aggressive, manipulative, and combative attitudes detrimental to traditional gender roles of women which became overtly incompatible with harmonious relationships.

Our role.

Although the future looks bleak in the face of the shifting dating narrative, some have proffered solutions to the ongoing crisis.

While most men in the West who desire women with traditional values and behavior in dating and marriage are moving to countries with rich cultural/ traditional backgrounds in marriage, a movement known as Passport Bros has sprung up and is gaining a lot of attention.

Whether the rise of AI-powered human-like-fulllife-size-love-dolls will bring about the necessary balance or further disruptions in the dating marketplace is yet to be seen. However, some commentators see it as a short-term solution to the crisis.

We at odogwuabroad.com believe that Odogwu ( the successful diaspora/Sponsor) who yearns or desires a more culturally aligned companion is caught up in this crisis and forced by  “Situationship” to enter into an un-natural relationship/marriage that ends in divorce. Yet, fails in his/her attempt to find love when importing the said traditionally aligned companion. Most of these relationships fall apart and the Nkem (sponsored) uses the platform as a setup for his/her goals.

In an attempt to bridge this crisis which goes deeper than we can elucidate here,

Our goal is to create a platform where good humans can congregate and find matches knowing that “God created them in His image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Gen; 1:27

The basic foundation of a good relationship/marriage is goodliness. Being a good human is essential to finding true love, peace, kindness, understanding, appreciation, and respect;

On this premise, we invite all people of goodwill to join us to make dating/relationship/marriage attractive again.

We understand that the traditional foundations of relationships/dating are under threat. Even in Africa, a seemingly more traditional terrain is now plagued with the trio evils of the “hookup culture”, “yahoo-yahoo” and “toxic femininity”.  Yet, we must proclaim hope.

Hope that endears and guarantees that passport bros would not need to move to a distant country to find love, while AI-powered love-dolls would not find a place in our homes.
